Today’s blog entry features a style shoot we designed at Campovida in Hopland, California. Campovida is a small family farm and winery with big dreams. The owners are cool and inspired, and the vibe of the venue is relaxed, low-key and comfortable. The barn at Campovida dates back to 1890. Our goal was to reinvigorate the rustic space with classic farm style elements, adding the sensibility and flare of modern design.
Starting with a classic element like farm-style tables was a must. Down the center, we laid a burlap runner topped with modern aesthetics – metal framed glass globes and spheres, slate-colored ceramic vases of varying shapes and sizes and slim pillar candles inside glass cylinders. Softening the modern styling, the team at Revel Floral brought earthy, organic elements to table. Opting for fresh greens, Marisa and Katie mixed familiar flora (Green Ranunculus, Succulents, Aspidistra leaves, Brasilia Berries) with a few unusual varieties of plants (Green Broccoli Hydrangeas, Euphorbia and the famously fuzzy Dianthus flowers) blending traditional and modern varietals with respect to the original design inspiration.
Suspended above the table’s center, a greenery chandelier hung parallel to the burlap runner and it’s budding floral arrangements. Created on-site, the greenery chandelier mirrored the arrangements on the tabletop below with the addition of Lemon Leaf and Boxwood bunches.
For the place settings, we let modern styling dictate direction. Stunning place settings from Encore Event Rentals – square plates wrapped in champagne colored napkins- were paired with matte black flatware. Stemware was placed in diagonal lines to the right of each setting. For seating, metal chairs were paired with each setting, further blending the rustic and modern design elements.
Lastly, we couldn’t leave the barn without admiring the interior sliding barn door along the back wall. Here we staged a cozy lounge seating area with Blueprint Studio’s Aviator Collection that continued our blend of rustic and modern design. Above the lounge, centered with the barn door, we chose three rustic, sphere-shaped chandeliers to cast warm lighting on the area below.
In closing, we’d like to thank all of our fellow event professionals who contributed time and energy to this styled shoot. As always, we couldn’t have done it without you!
